How to Play

Eggtrail is a digital treasure hunt that’s easy to set up and fun for all ages! No need to downlaod an app — just use your smartphone’s camera to scan QR codes and collect virtual eggs. Here’s how to get started:

Setup

  • 🧭 Choose a theme for your trail. Or create a custom one.
  • 💡 Add clues or hints from our library — or create your own!
  • 🖨️ Download our PDF template and Print the QR codes.
  • 📍 Place the QR codes around your location.
  • ▶️ Click "Start" to begin the game.

Play

  1. 📱 Each player or team needs a smartphone with a camera.
  2. 🔐 Make sure your browser is NOT in Private Mode.
  3. 📷 Scan QR codes using your smartphone’s camera.
  4. 🥚 An item of the game will appear in your browser once scanned.
  5. 🎯 Click "Capture" to collect pr interact with the item.
  6. 💰 Capturing an item earns you coins — and possibly attack or defense points if you're playing an RPG theme.
  7. 🏁 The goal: finish as fast as possible with the most coins.
  8. 📊 Track your progress and compare stats with other players in real time.

Tips for a Winning Hunt!

  • 📶 Have a strong internet connection — mobile data or Wi-Fi.
  • 🎭 Work as a team — divide and conquer for faster hunting.
  • 🕵️ Look closely! QR codes can be hidden in tricky places.
  • 🔄 Refresh your browser if a clue doesn’t load right away.
