A three-hour Halloween hunt that runs like a movie, from daylight into dark: about 15 miles of driving across LA's real 1984 nightmare locations, ending with a short night walk to the house on Genesee Ave.

Start at Evergreen Cemetery around 3:30 to 4 pm. Its gates close around 4:30 pm and the opening scene is there. Then drive to the old Lincoln Heights Jail, John Marshall High and the Cahuenga Library, and reach Genesee as it gets dark for the finale. You need an item from every stop to beat the boss, so don't skip any.

Stay on public sidewalks the whole way. The jail is fenced and guarded: look from the sidewalk only. Evergreen is a working cemetery: stay outside the gates. Genesee is a quiet residential street at night: bring a flashlight and keep your voices down.
