Gold Eggs

Play a trail, keep your slice of the pot,
host the next one.

Every board on Eggtrail carries a prize pot in Gold Eggs. Teams that finish near the top split it — and Gold Eggs are what a trail of your own costs to run.

One loop, four steps

Play, earn, create, host. Then your players start their own.

  1. Play

Walk a GPS trail near you. Stand within 30 m of a stop and its card opens. Finish high on the board.

  2. Earn

When the board closes, its pot is paid in Gold Eggs to the teams that finished near the top. Your slice lands in your wallet.

  3. Create

Give your Gold Eggs to your organization and build a trail. A board costs 2 Gold Eggs per expected player, so 20 Gold Eggs open one for 10 players.

  4. Host

Start it. Your players chase your pot, and the loop starts again.

And round again.

Where the Gold Eggs come from

The host pays for every board before it opens. Half of it is the prize.

Paid by the host

A board costs its host 2 Gold Eggs per expected player: 1 to run it, 1 to its prize pot.

Split by the board

The top three take 50% / 30% / 20%. From 200 teams, the top 10% win, and the top 1% split half the pot.

Finish to count

Only a team that finishes can take a slice, ranked by points, then coins in hand, then time. A slice no finisher reaches is not paid.

What they buy

Gold Eggs host boards, write cards and buy avatars. They have no cash value.

GPS is the headline

Two ways to find a card. Only one needs a printer.

GPS: a real route

Pin the stops on a map, then walk or drive between them. A card opens when you stand within 30 m of its pin. No printing. A card can even move between spots on a timer.

How GPS trails work

QR: the micro-hunt

Print the sheet, cut out the codes, hide them. Best for a backyard, a classroom or a party room.

How QR trails work

Either way, a board costs 2 Gold Eggs per expected player. GPS costs nothing extra.

Every stop needs internet. GPS also needs location permission and a usable outdoor position.

What a trail of your own costs

One number decides it: the players you expect. A player is one phone, with any number of people on it.

Gold Eggs to open one board, by the players you expect.
Expected players To run it Prize pot Total
10 10 10 20
25 25 25 50
50 50 50 100

The ready-made stories cost nothing to use. A story of your own costs 2 Gold Eggs a card. A trail that resets pays again for each board.

Your Gold Eggs, on your trail

Your slices land in your wallet. Every trail is built on an organization and paid from its wallet, so you give yours to the organization you belong to.

  1. Open your wallet and find Give to an organization.
  2. Your own organization is already chosen. No organization yet? Start one in one press.
  3. Give the whole balance, or any part of it. It lands at once.

One way only: an organization's Gold Eggs never come back to a team.
