The cards

The House That Fell Hold on tight — the cyclone sets the whole house down with a THUMP, right on top of the Wicked Witch of the East. Everyone land: crouch, count to three, THUMP. All that's left of her are two feet in silver shoes. Follow the road of yellow brick!
The Silver Shoes The witch's silver shoes — and the Witch of the North says they hold a charm nobody understands. Put them on and walk three steps exactly like a queen. They fit as if they were made for you.
The Kiss of the North The Witch of the North kisses you right on the forehead — a soft, shining mark. Hold your bravest face while she does it. No creature in Oz dares harm someone carrying her kiss.
The Scarecrow A scarecrow on a pole, bothered by exactly one crow. Flop like you have no bones at all — then snap up straight! He climbs down and joins you, hoping the Wizard has spare brains.
The Oil Can An oil can waiting by a cottage door, exactly where someone rusty would leave it. Pick it up and practice: oil an elbow, oil a knee — squeak, squeak, silence.
The Tin Woodman A man of tin, rusted solid mid-swing for a whole year. Oil his jaw first — then his arms, then his legs, squeaking along with every joint as he creaks back to life. He shoulders his axe and joins the quest, hoping for a heart.
The Cowardly Lion Something huge leaps onto the road — give your most enormous ROAR! Now hide behind your grown-up, because that is exactly what he does. The Lion joins you, hoping the Wizard keeps courage in bottles.
The Deadly Poppy Field Scarlet poppies as far as you can see, and their smell makes travelers sleep forever. Cross fast — and whatever you do, do NOT yawn. Did somebody yawn? Everyone who yawned sits down and snores for ten seconds, then RUN for the far edge.
The Green Spectacles The Guardian of the Gates locks green spectacles over everyone's eyes — rule of the city, no exceptions. Make finger-circles around your eyes and look again: suddenly, EVERYTHING is emerald.
The Wizard's Four Faces Something happens here. The score stays where it is.
A Bucket of Water The Winkies' armory offers you their deadliest weapon against the Witch. It is a bucket. Of water. Practice your throwing arm — big wind-up, perfect timing — you will only get one shot.
The Wicked Witch of the West One eye, sharp as a telescope, and it has seen you coming for miles. She wants your silver shoes — do NOT let go of them. When your moment comes, throw the water! Then everybody: melt. Slowly. Alllll the way down to the floor.
The Man Behind the Screen Something happens here. The score stays where it is.
Three Clicks of the Heels Something happens here. The score stays where it is.
The Kalidah CRASH — through the trees comes a Kalidah: body of a bear, head of a tiger, manners of neither. Show your fiercest tiger-face and your biggest bear-arms, then stand your ground together.
The Winged Monkeys A shadow, then fifty shadows — the Winged Monkeys! Flap, screech, and swoop in a circle. But look: they spot the shining mark on your forehead and pull up short. They cannot touch you. Chase them off!
The Queen of the Field Mice A tiny grey queen, nearly under your feet! Bow FIRST — she is royalty — then squeak your politest squeak. She once saved a whole Lion from the poppies, and she never forgets a friend.
The Golden Cap The Witch's Golden Cap, ringed with diamonds and rubies — whoever wears it commands the Winged Monkeys three times, ever. Put it on (carefully) and think very hard about how you would spend three wishes.
The Gates of the Emerald City Gates studded with emeralds, glittering even before the spectacles go on. Rest here, catch your breath, and ring the bell politely. The Guardian keeps the keys — and the rules.
